Educator Appraisal
TEACHH offers kind of clinical services for individuals with ASD. The services are designed to promote communication, executive function, social skills and emotion regulation. Parent coaching is also provided to help parents understand their child's like learning styles, and then the intended outcome is to enhance the quality of life for people with ASD and their families. I like that TEACHH offers visual supports and visual aids such as schedules, task lists and instructions, which can help improve understanding and reduce anxiety and can help foster, like, independence in tasks. I like that TEACHH also offers a structured environment which provides predictability and routine and then for students with ASD, the structure can help reduce confusion and stress which leads to better focus and engagement. TEACHH also promotes independence which can include life. Life skills such as self-care routines can help with adaptive behaviour, which is like essential for improving the quality of life and preparing for adulthood. I didn't like that the resource is very resource intensive, so it requires significant time and training. The materials have to be like individualised for each student, which can make a lot of like like it's very like time intensive. The structure could be potentially too rigid so that like opportunities for a spontaneous interaction will be a lot harder for those children or pupils with ASD. There's a limited focus on social interaction and then it's also not a stand alone solution. TEACHH is most effective when combined with therapies and other sort of interventions for behaviour.

TEACHH was developed by The University of North Carolina. There are multiple studies suggesting it is an effective intervention, however it may be more useful for social behaviour and maladaptive behaviour rather than communication, and activities of daily living.
