Educator Appraisal
When you start using the resource, you conduct a 15-minute assessment to identify issues, and this is nice and quick and looks easy to do. The ability to track children's progress using this test is helpful. The resource has lots of useful information for delivering strategies and helping to communicate with home. However, it is really expensive to use and may not provide much more knowledge that teachers are already likely to have. Schools who cannot fund the resource might get better value from less costly and time intensive training courses on identifying and supporting speech and language problems.

Evidence Rating
Speech and Language Link provide lots of separate studies utilising various methods to show that Speech and Language Link does improve outcomes for students and is well received by teachers. However, it is important to note that this evidence is provided by the developers themselves and is not peer reviewed, with minimal details of the methods used available, which means that while this points towards positive effects, the trustworthiness of the evidence can not be determined. The evidence is rated as applicable because there is not sufficient detail of control groups available to identify whether the studies were controlled appropriately or how baseline characteristics of participants may have varied across groups.
